Overview
Encompassing several pocket neighborhoods such as Nob Hill, Uptown and the Alphebet District, the Northwest District is a large, densely populated area filled with a diverse mix of residential and commercial properties. The blocks surrounding Northwest 21st and 23rd streets are known for their eclectic blend of upscale shops, boutiques and eateries. Known for being ultra hip, the area has been dubbed “snob hill” by some Portlanders.
The Northwest District’s Eastern boundary is defined by the historical Alphabet District, with its distinctive blend of trendy stores, venerable Portland dining establishments, industrial warehouses and gorgeous old Portland homes.
Real Estate
The Northwest District has nearly as many architectural styles as it does residents: Old Portland Foursquare, Cape Cod, Queen Anne, Cottages, mid-century designs, sleek new Lofts and Condos and several intriguing hybrids that resist categorization.
