Center / North Tabor

Overview

This historic SE Portland neighborhood is geographically the center of the city.  This is where the former name came from.   Now  known as N. Tabor this area is complemented by a selection of top-rated locally owned shops and eateries, while affordable homes, quiet streets and a low-key atmosphere make this a popular neighborhood for creatives and young families.

With over 3000 employees and nearly 1000 physicians on staff, Providence Portland Medical Center is this area’s largest employer and one of the defining features of the neighborhood.

Parks & Recreation

At just over 2 acres, the Rosemont Bluff Natural Area is the North Tabor neighborhood’s jewel in the rough.  Hiking trails wind through this span of native foliage and provide a perfect opportunity to view some native bird species.  Mt. Tabor Park is also nearby, offering miles of hiking and biking trails, a playground, ball fields and spectacular vistas.

Real Estate

A variety of modern and turn-of-the-century homes can be found in this area alongside the large, airy Old Portland homes that dominate the North Tabor neighborhood’s architecture.
