Sellwood/Moreland

Overview

Sellwood is quiet residential neighborhood situated on a bluff on the East bank of the Willamette river. It is very pedestrian friendly with wide sidewalks and a vibrant retail district, including a diverse selection of mainstream and ethnic restaurants and a variety of independent retailers. Sellwood is very community oriented and enjoys an almost quaint small town atmosphere.

The small town character can probably be attributed in part to its origins as an independent town that was eventually annexed into the city of Portland in 1893. It is home to a well known antique row for acclaimed vintage shopping, and has a number of historic buildings along the main commercial blocks.  The local restaurants, cafes, and pubs include have something for everyones taste.

Parks & Recreation

Sellwood is home to Portland’s only amusement park, Oaks Park.  Roller coasters, carnival rides and roller skating make this area family freindly and a great warm weather option.  Sellwood’s Riverfront Park offers 16+ acres of waterfront trails, picnick areas and a swim park.  Best of all there is an off leash dog area where even rover can go swimming.   Views of the downtown skyline make this one of Portland’s most scerene destinations.

Real Estate

A few mid-century Ranch and Bungalows can be found tucked between the expansive English Country, Tudor, Cape Cod Colonial Revival and Stone Manor homes that fill the beautiful Sellwood – Moreland neighborhood.
